New Zealand Film Commission
Client
Work
Brief
The New Zealand Film Commission participates in multiple international film festivals each year. One of the highlights is the invitation-only Cannes Film Festival. Established in 1946 it brings together the glitz and glam of film from around the globe. Wonderlab was asked to support the Film Commission with collateral to promote not just the latest New Zealand made films, but also the country as a world-class destination for screen production. The multi-purpose promotions were easily adapted for Toronto and LA Week too.
The objectives
Present the world-class New Zealand film offering and attract producers from overseas.
The goal
Sharing New Zealand as a world-class destination for film. From location to pre & post production. Creating a set of collateral that allows the NZ Film Commission team to facilitate events for screen sector leaders and assist marketing our multi-million-dollar infrastructure facilities.
The process
Wonderlab created a modular design system to apply to a range of collateral for international promotion – a custom format for brochures to break convention, a set of cute, square QR code cards, for easy pocketing and connecting later and, curated imagery that speaks to our space and special atmosphere of Aotearoa New Zealand.
The deliverables
Creating a series of collateral that is coherent AND also easily transportable: printed overview booklets presenting the latest NZ films; sets of digital invitations to various events during festivals, where directors, producers and film influences get to talk to the New Zealand teams directly; QR contact cards; a directory of post production, VFX and animation suppliers in Aotearoa; and of course the Lookbook – which we update annually.
